Classification and surface classification of stainless steel

14-05-2006
Stainless steel classification:
Stainless steel can be roughly classified according to its purpose, chemical composition, and metallographic structure.
The basic composition of austenitic steel is 18% chromium -8% nickel, and the addition amount of each element varies, thus developing steel grades for various purposes.
1. Classification by chemical composition:
① . CR series: ferrite series, martensite series
② . CR-NI series: austenitic series, abnormal series, precipitation hardening series.
2. Classification based on metallographic organization:
① Austenitic stainless steel
② Ferritic stainless steel
③ Martensitic stainless steel
④ Duplex stainless steel
⑤ Precipitation hardened stainless steel
3. Surface category of stainless steel
The development of stainless steel has made its corrosion resistance, appearance, processability, strength and other characteristics far superior to other materials. Moreover, many surface treatment methods of stainless steel can achieve rich and colorful colors and shapes, which has made great contributions to the development of stainless steel.
